That would be a great way for me to start and to get used to using Cubase, learning its routing and how to get recording with some efficiency. What I would like to do is set up a recording template, like what I have in Pro Tools. I got the trial installed yesterday and mucked around for about half an hour, but didn't get very far. So I'm playing with Cubase to see if I like that program more. Due to a story too long and boring to repeat, I'm pretty pissed off at Avid and how terrible they are.
